3 Ways to Lower Sequencing Costs

1. You don't need a sequencer, just outsource the sequence

A sequencer is required to use next-generation sequencing data. However, the price of the sequencer is about 10 million yen, and the maintenance fee is also required separately.
By using a company that outsources sequencing, there is no need to own a sequencer yourself. In sequence outsourcing, one lane (approximately 110Gb) can be outsourced for approximately ¥200,000. If you don't need 110Gb of data, you can set the sequence fee in 1Gb increments, and you can outsource the sequence at about 3,000 yen/Gb.

2. Do your own library tuning

It is necessary to create a library DNA, etc. that has adjusted DNA and RNA for sequencing. By doing these adjustments yourself, it is possible to outsource at a low cost. Also, for adjustment, even if it is not the genuine product sold by Illumina, the one sold by NEB etc. is sufficient.

3. Analysis performed in a next-generation sequencing lab

In many cases, outsourcing only sequencing can also outsource analysis at the same time, but the next-generation sequencing analysis laboratory accepts analysis at a low cost. Please feel free to contact us.

 Approximate reference price example

E. coli 2-sample SNP comparison

DNA library preparation 10000x2=20000
Sequence 1Gb 3000x1=3000
8000x2=16000 analyzed in next-generation sequencing lab

 Total amount 39000 yen

Expression comparison between two groups (2 samples, 3 replicates) in Arabidopsis thaliana

RNA library preparation 10000x6=60000
Sequence 3Gb 3000x3=9000
Analyzed in next-generation sequencing lab 8500x6=51000

Total amount 120000 yen
